PVD & AFP Properties
PVD Titanium Nitride Coating’s principles and introduction:
PVD stands for Physical Vapor Deposition. It is currently a quite popular and advanced technique for stainless steel surface coating. Not only it is one of the very few techniques available that can obtain coating with micrometer thickness, but it is also the most ideal method regarding environmental issues. The brief idea of PVD is to undergo the combination of vaporization and physics process and technique within a vacuumed space to form an extremely thin layer of coating to attach onto the surface of the material.
PVD Titanium Nitride Coating’s traits and benefits:
Excellent adhesive ability:
PVD coating provides highly adhesive and durability to the material. Allowing bending/cutting at various angles, as well as additional manufacturing without damaging the surface and leaving no cracking or peeling condition to the surface. Suitable for both interior designing and exterior construction.
Excellent anti-oxidization and anti-corrosive ability:
Under normal circumstances and environment, PVD coating enhances and provides anti-oxidization to the material applied to both indoor and outdoor; low discoloration; and sustains the metallic surface texture.
Increase surface hardness:
According to Micro examination coating hardness, the hardness reading reaches HV2,250
PVD types and thickness:
PVD types:
PVD coating methods and techniques include, TiN, ZrN, CrN, TiAlN, TiC, TiCN, and TiO, etc.
Coating thickness:
Micro unit, decorative Titanium coating thickness is usually between 0.3μm~0.5μm
PVD coating colors:
1) Brass (-001), 2) Brown (-002), 3) Black (-003), 4) Gold (-004), 5) Rose (-005), 6) Bronze (-006), 7) Nickel Silver (-007)

To manage during the PVD process by controlling each coating color’s corresponding figure and reading allows us to make sure each batch’s color comes out to be the same. After each PVD process is completed, an examination is then carried out with the application of a color rating tool to make sure the colors are even and the quality is up to the standard.

Anti-Fingerprint Nano Surface Coating (AFP)’s Properties
Metallic Nano Coating’s principles and introduction:
Hwa Yang is proud to introduce a new metallic surface treatment that is both advanced and environmental. This technique was originally being utilized in the aeronautics industry. Through the manufacturing treatment, the nano compound becomes so attached to the metallic surface, it results in the forming of a thin but durable protective coating. This coating can effectively avoid oxygen or water from penetrating freely, enhancing the material’s anti-corrosion and anti-fingerprint abilities. Moreover, with the application of nano anti-fingerprint coating (AFP), the surface hardness of stainless steel sheets increase drastically. In addition, the AFP coating provides the titanium coating with a firmer color finish and strengthens color stability.
Metallic Nano AFP’s benefits:
Ease of maintenance:
Solves the problems of fingerprints and cleaning on the Ti coated stainless steel; easy maintenance can be accomplished simply with a clean cotton towel or cloth.
Low discoloration:
Solves the problems of Ti coated stainless steel oxidation and discoloration when exposed to direct sunlight.
Increase the color firmness:
With the Nano AFP coating, it provides a firmer appearance and classier touch to the regular Ti coated stainless steel sheets.
Increase surface hardness:
Regular stainless steel is rated 2H~3H by Pencil Hardness Tester, after the AFP treatment, the surface hardness is tripled to reach at least 8H hardness; largely decreases the chances of receiving surface scratches.
Anti-corrosion rating:
Tested and proven by SGS report, regular #304 stainless steel is capable of resisting up to approximately 400 hours in the Salt Spray Test, regular Ti coated stainless steel is capable of resisting up to approximately 600 hours or more, and Ti coated stainless steel with AFP treatment is capable of resisting up to approximately 1,200 hours or more. Therefore, with the AFP treatment, the lifespan of stainless steel sheets can be extended effectively.
Anti-chemical substances:
Strong acidic and basic/alkaline substances are extremely fatal for stainless steel, cement being one of the most commonly observed. SGS chemical substances testing report shows that after the AFP treatment, stainless steel obtains an extra exterior coating to protect against such substances. There has been a noticeable improvement on decreasing the risk of corrosive chemical substances damaging stainless steel.
Laser and high temperature cutting friendly:
Regular transparent coating on stainless steel cannot resist laser cutting and often times leave obvious burnt marks on the surface; however, after the application of Nano AFP treatment, laser cutting on stainless steel no longer leaves burnt marks or imperfections on the metallic surface.
Adhesion Test:
Passed 100% Cross-Cut Test, after the AFP treatment, the material can be bent or folded, and still retains the same physical properties of regular Ti coated stainless steel.
